Grazer's daughter, trained on the lip of Brooks Falls, now forging her own way.

Some athletes are born into the big leagues. 428 was born in 2020 to 128 Grazer, a famously defensive former Fat Bear Week champ, and that pedigree came with front-row seats. As a yearling and 2.5-year-old, 428 followed her mother to the lip of Brooks Falls, prime fishing real estate where younger bears are often displaced. Her focused attention there earned her the nickname Studious from many bearcam fans. Look for a short, pointed muzzle and blond ears.

First identified as an independent 3.5-year-old in 2023, Studious is already an excellent angler on the lip. One of her biggest hurdles is competition from other bears, so she compensates by seizing her chances, fishing the lip when there's room and seeking salmon elsewhere when there isn't. Several years after her apprenticeship with Grazer ended, how will she navigate the changes and challenges of maturing adulthood? The evidence so far suggests Studious has a promising future.
